The Real Story Behind Our Founder’s Vision: Featured in Sakhi Magazine

From Own Business Struggle to a Nation-Wide Solution - IndiaBiz

We’re proud to share a special feature recently published in Sakhi magazine (March 2025), spotlighting the inspiring journey of our founder, Haripriya Bhagat. The article reflects the values, grit and vision that drive everything we do.

How It All Started

Around 10 years ago, startups were just starting to catch on in India. That’s when Haripriya, who had studied in the UK and worked there, decided to come back home—not to take a job, but to build something new.

Their family was planning to sell their business, but they quickly realized how complicated (and awkward) it could be. People often assume something must be wrong if a business is up for sale—maybe it’s losing money or shutting down. This makes it hard for owners to find the right buyer, and the whole process becomes stressful and full of doubts.

Haripriya and Bhavin saw a big gap here. Why wasn’t there a simple, private, and trustworthy way to buy and sell businesses in India—just like you have matrimonial websites for matchmaking?

Turning the Idea into Action

That’s how IndiaBizForSale.com was born in 2014—the country’s first online platform for business buying and selling. The site lets business owners share their company details (without revealing their name) so serious buyers can show interest in those opportunities.

Later, for larger business deals, a new platform was launched called IBGrid.com, where the whole process of M&A is taken care of by an expert team of professionals, normally they are called investment bankers.

What Makes This Special

So far, more than 12,000+ businesses have used these platforms to find buyers, explore new opportunities, or exit smoothly. The impact? Thousands of dreams continued, businesses found new life, and entrepreneurs found freedom to move on and value unlocking for hundreds of micro to medium size businesses from India.

And the best part? This all started with one real-life problem. No big office, very small funding, no fancy setup—just a strong idea, clear purpose, and a lot of hard work.

Words from Haripriya

“Startups are not easy. It’s not just about having an idea—you need experience, people skills, financial understanding, and the ability to learn fast. You learn a lot even by working somewhere before you start on your own.”

This is the spirit we believe in. Learn. Build. Help others grow
